画家・大宮エリーが、初めて手がけた襖絵作品。
舞台は、重要文化財・狩野山雪の襖絵を有する妙心寺・桂春院。
本作「ダンシング松」は、皇居で見た一本の松が踊っているように見えた
瞬間の感動をもとに描かれた。静寂に包まれた禅寺の空間に、生命のリズムが軽やかに響く。
伝統と現代が共鳴し合う、瑞々しい“いま”の襖絵である。
The painter and writer Ellie Omiya presents her first-ever fusuma-e (sliding door painting).
The stage is Keishun-in Temple at Myoshin-ji, home to fusuma paintings by the celebrated Kano Sansetsu, designated an Important Cultural Property.Her work, “Dancing Pine”, was inspired by a profound moment at the Imperial Palace, when a solitary pine tree appeared to be dancing in the wind.In the quiet of the Zen temple, the rhythm of life resonates with lightness and grace.
It is a fresh fusuma painting where tradition and the contemporary converge in harmony, capturing the vitality of the present moment.

Ellie Omiya
Born in Osaka in 1975. Graduated from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Tokyo. Passed away in 2025.
Her career as a painter began in 2012, when she was suddenly invited to create a live painting at the Hōryū-ji Treasures Gallery of the Tokyo National Museum, as a celebratory gift for Soichiro Fukutake, recipient of the Montblanc International Award.
In 2022, she held a solo exhibition titled “LOUNGING AROUND” at Galerie Boulakia in London. That same year, she also participated as an exhibiting artist in the Setouchi Triennale, presenting permanent installations on Inujima Island: “Flower Fairy Dancers” and “Flower Benches of Light and Reflection.”
In 2024, at Keishun-in Temple within the Myōshin-ji complex, she collaborated with the Important Cultural Property fusuma-e (sliding door paintings) of Kano Sansetsu, taking on the challenge of creating her first fusuma paintings.

この由緒ある寺院の多大なるご厚意により、 大宮エリー氏が狩野山雪の襖絵に深い感銘を受け、新たに対話するように挑戦し奉納した初の襖絵「ダンシング松」を、特別に展示させていただく運びとなりました。
For this special exhibition, we are deeply grateful for the generous support of Keishun-in, a tatchu (sub-temple) of the Rinzai Zen Head Temple Myōshin-ji.
Founded during the Keichō era (1596–1615), Keishun-in is renowned both for the Important Cultural Property “Pine and Plum Fusuma Paintings” by the master of ink painting Kano Sansetsu, as well as for its exquisite gardens that embody the spirit of wabi.
Thanks to the profound goodwill of this venerable temple, we are honored to present “Dancing Pine”, the first fusuma-e (sliding door painting) by artist and writer Ellie Omiya. Deeply moved by Kano Sansetsu’s fusuma paintings, she created this work as a new dialogue with tradition, dedicating it to Keishun-in.
