Kyoto is synonymous with Nishijin-ori weaving.
For this work, created in collaboration with the Nishijin Youth Association, the motif is expressed entirely through woven patterns.
“The warp is you, the weft is me—
The fabric we weave may one day bring warmth to someone.”
Yes. That is precisely what this piece embodies.

その後、広告や CM などのディレクション、住居などのデザイン、ブランドのプロデュース、イラストレーション、アートクリエイションなど創作の幅を拡げる。 旅がベースのライフスタイルから世界の様々な文化や自然との対峙を経て、環境問題への取り組みや地域活性など社会活動にも力を入れる。
Daichi Miura began his career as a fashion designer, creating costumes for artists and actors. He later expanded his creative practice into advertising and commercial direction, residential design, brand production, illustration, and art creation.
Rooted in a lifestyle of travel, his work reflects encounters with diverse cultures and natural environments across the world. These experiences have also informed his engagement in social activities, including environmental initiatives and regional revitalization.

その歴史は、千年以上続く西陣織の伝統を受け継ぎつつ、新たな価値を創造するために集った、熱意ある若者たちによって築かれました。彼らは、高度な織りの技術を守りながらも、現代の感性を積極的に取り入れ、今回のアーティストの作品を、卓越した西陣織の技術で鮮やかに表現してくださいました。
伝統に甘んじることなく、常に挑戦し続ける「西陣連合青年会」の活動をご紹介するとともに、心より感謝の意を表します。
The production of this work was made possible through the generous support of the Nishijin Youth Association, an organization dedicated to both the tradition and innovation of Nishijin weaving.
Its history is carried by passionate young craftspeople who uphold techniques cultivated over more than a thousand years, while also striving to create new value for the future. Preserving the finest weaving skills yet embracing contemporary sensibilities, the association has brought this artwork vividly to life through the exceptional artistry of Nishijin-ori.
