京都という土地が持つ奥深い魅力と凄みを絵で表現することは容易いことではない。寧ろ難解なテーマであることも熟知しており、個人的には生まれ育った場所でもあるからこそ入り乱れる思いもある。それでも今回、京都駅でライブペイントをするというお話をいただき、「京都」を描くことに初めて挑戦してみたいと思った。どんな作品が生まれたとしても私にとっては大切な出会いとなるだろう。
変わり続ける世界の中で、変わらないものを守るまち。畏敬の念を込めながら、駅を行き交う人々に見守られ、躍動して描けたらと思っている。

Sayoko Hirano
2015年、ブラジル・サンパウロの「FAAP Artist in Residence」により現地に滞在し、個展とパフォーマンスを開催。また2018年には3万人動員の音楽フェス「LOOPTOPIA Music Festival」（台湾）にてアートパフォーマンスを担当。
近年は、国内外で個展やパフォーマンスを継続する一方、百貨店でのワークショップや教育機関での講演、老舗企業とのコラボ商品発売など多岐に渡り活動している。
Sayoko Hirano creates unique wood carving works that combine the vivid colors and dynamic chisel lines of traditional Japanese woodblock printing. Her consistent theme is the expression of “vitality,” and she has exhibited her work and performed live painting in North and South America, Europe, and Asia.
In 2015, she stayed in São Paulo, Brazil, as part of the FAAP Artist in Residence program, where she held a solo exhibition and gave a performance. In 2018, she was in charge of an art performance at the LOOPTOPIA Music Festival in Taiwan, which attracted a crowd of 30,000.
In recent years, alongside solo exhibitions and performances both in Japan and abroad, she has actively expanded her practice through workshops at department stores, lectures at educational institutions, and collaborative product releases with long-established companies.
