概要
Overview
It is not an easy task to capture the profound charm and depth of Kyoto through art. I am fully aware that it is a complex and challenging theme—and perhaps even more so for me, as someone who was born and raised here, with many intertwined feelings toward this city. Still, when I was invited to do a live painting at Kyoto Station, I felt inspired to take on the challenge of expressing “Kyoto” through my work for the very first time. Whatever form the finished piece may take, I believe it will be a meaningful encounter for me.
In a world that is constantly changing, Kyoto is a city that continues to protect what remains unchanged. With a sense of reverence, I hope to paint dynamically—watched over by the many people passing through the station. (Sayoko Hirano)
